Father Of Mine

(Bill Weisband)
In my youth I read a book about the cold war
spies and what they took. I was shocked to find a picture on the page of my Fathers face.
There was a time after the war
we were afraid the communists
were trying to take over. It wasn't just the lies, the truth could make you blind and that was my Fathers crime. He was American he'd have died that I be free. He was not innocent of what he dared to beleive. He was my patriot the hero of my childhood dreams. Forever on my mind That father of mine. I'll take these papers and write a book but it won't be about the secrets that he took It will be about Sundays we spent in the park It will be about the thunder and how he saved me from the dark It will be about a brave brave man who gave his life to me forever on my mind That Father of mine.
